A. Presentation of the issue.

Air travel could be traced back from the early 20th century, however, it was an idea that really recieved the support by the society shortly after the first world war. Since then, the aviation industries had been expanding globally as a result of migration. Today, the biggest airline in terms of amount of carriers is known as the American Airlines, having more than 500 aircrafts in its fleet serving accross the United States of America. Also, in time, designs of aircrafts have greatly altered as technology advances everyday. However, as the world is facing constant economic crisis, airline industry can collapse as it has a very heavy reliabity on jet fuel. Currently, two airlines; Oasis and Alitalia have collapsed due to the shortage in profit due to the high oil prices. Therefore, more fuel efficient aircrafts are needed immediately to solve the current problem. Economic Analysts say that it is the only way to save the airline industry and keep it running for a long time since it is a very fragile business as it can cause large amount of unemployment as well as loss in income of airports if carriers collapse. This is where the use of CAD/CAM can help mankind to design more efficient aircrafts.
